A standard magic mushroom trip usually lasts 4 to 6 hours.

You’ll start to feel effects around the 30 to 60-minute mark, with the peak hitting around hour two. After that, the experience gradually winds down.

Lighter doses wear off faster, while higher doses or tea preparations might stretch the experience a little longer.

If you’re microdosing, effects are much gentler and typically last 2 to 4 hours with no psychedelic visuals.

When stored properly, dried magic mushrooms can last 1 to 2 years or more without losing potency.

To keep them fresh, store your shrooms in an airtight container (like a mason jar or mylar bag), in a cool, dry, dark place, away from light, moisture, or heat.

Want to store them long-term? Add a desiccant pack and vacuum-seal the container before freezing.

That combo can extend the shelf life even further, with minimal loss in potency.

A microdose is taking a psychedelic substance like psilocybe mushrooms at a level under 1000mg which is lower then a standard dose for recreational or spiritual purposes. At this low level, there can be mental and physical benefits without any “high” or psychedelic effects.

A typical dose of psilocybe mushrooms for psychedelic purposes would be between 1000mg and 3000mg of dried mushroom. A microdose is much smaller from 50mg up to 750mg.

Improved mental health

Many of the reasons why people microdose involve some aspects of mental health, such as reducing stress and anxiety or alleviating symptoms of depression.

Many of our members feel that their mental health is much better as a benefit of microdosing.

Many members have reported they find microdosing more effective than some other forms of treatment but less effective than higher doses of psychedelics.

Improved brain functioning

Anecdotal evidence shows that some people believe that microdosing helps improve their brain function by allowing their brain to operate at its fullest potential or making them more open to new ideas.

Creativity

Creativity is a harder concept to quantify and validate, but many people who microdose claim to do so for its ability to boost their creative faculties. However, a combination of other factors, such as stress reduction or increased focus, may lead to this benefit.

Focus

Microdosing may also help with temporary focus, allowing a person to work on a big project without their mind wandering.

Quitting other habits

For some, microdosing helps people quit habits, such as smoking cigarettes, stop using other drugs or drinking alcohol.

Microdoses are generally considered very safe. Using a microdose in the evening can disrupt sleep patterns in some people.

Psilocybin is not chemically addictive, and no physical symptoms occur after stopping use.

Taking too high of a dose of psilocybin can cause powerful feelings. Often positive and healing, but also sometimes feelings of discomfort, increased anxiety, disruption in mood and cognitive impairment. Usually you would need a high dose other than a microdose to feel these kinds of effects.  At very high dosages risks can also include hallucinations, paranoia and rarely a temporary drug-induced psychosis.

Some people with underlying mental health disorders may also wish to avoid microdosing. These people may include those with anxiety disorders, who may find that the practice makes anxiety and traits such as neuroticism worse.

People with a history of psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia, bipolar or other disorders, may also want to avoid microdosing, as the practice may be too stimulating.

There are risks around accidental use by children and pets. Store your mushroom products in a safe location and away from children and pets.
