Shelf Life of Magic Shrooms. How to Store Them Properly?

Home » Blog » Shelf Life of Magic Shrooms. How to Store Them Properly?

So, you’ve got yourself a fresh batch of magic mushrooms from Electric Avenue (nice pick, by the way), but now you’re wondering: How long do these last? And more importantly, how do you keep them fresh and potent?

We’ve got answers. Whether you’re microdosing with capsules or going full-send with dried shrooms, proper storage is key for preserving potency and flavour.

How Long Do Magic Mushrooms Last?

When stored properly, dried mushrooms can last for a year or more.

But if they’re exposed to heat, light, moisture, or air? You risk losing potency, encouraging mould growth, and basically wasting your investment. And you or nobody wants that.

Tips for Storing Dried Mushrooms

  • Cool, dry, dark place: Store them in a pantry or drawer. Keep them away from direct sunlight or heat.
  • Airtight container: Mason jars, resealable mylar bags, or vacuum-sealed pouches work best.
  • Desiccant packs: These little moisture-absorbing packs help prevent mould buildup.
  • No fridge, no freezer (unless sealed tight): Fridges have humidity. Freezing is okay only if vacuum-sealed first.

What About Capsules and Edibles?

You are thinking of buying capsules or a nice magic chocolate?

Microdose capsules should be stored like regular supplements. Here’s what we recommend:

  • Keep them in a cool, dry cabinet
  • Avoid heat, moisture, and direct light
  • Use an airtight bottle or resealable pouch

As for edibles like chocolates or gummies:

  • Don’t leave them in hot places (cars, sunny windowsills, etc.)
  • Use original resealable packaging, or transfer to a sealed container
  • If it’s a hot day, a dry section of the fridge is okay, just use extra protection against moisture

Can I Store Mushrooms Long-Term?

Yes. If you’re planning to stock up, vacuum-sealing and freezing is your best option. This method preserves mushrooms for 12 months or longer with minimal potency loss. Just make sure they’re completely dry before freezing.

Final Tip: Label Your Stash

Always write down the date you bought or dried your mushrooms. This keeps things organized and helps you avoid old, funky-smelling mystery shrooms that have lost their magic. Future-you will thank you.

Storing Your Vibe, Not Just Your Mushrooms

Good storage isn’t just about keeping mushrooms “fresh.” It’s about keeping the experience intact, the clarity, the connection, the creativity. When you take care of your stash, you’re taking care of your future experiences, too.
